This artwork is inspired by the spirit of Sri Lanka’s New Year—a time when tradition, family, and culture come together in harmony. Awurudu marks the sun’s transition, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity.

This season is filled with sirith wirith—rituals observed at auspicious times, performed together across the island, creating a strong sense of unity.

Communities come alive with Awurudu games and vibrant Awurudu Uthsawa, bringing people together in laughter and celebration. Homes fill with joy as families exchange sweet treats—marking a time of giving, sharing, and reconnecting.
